ClearRead ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the ClearRead mobile application.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address solely to create and manage your account. We do not access your passwords.
Subscription & Usage Data
We track your subscription status and text-to-speech character usage to enforce plan limits. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) — we never see or store your payment details.
Documents
Documents you import (EPUBs, PDFs, web articles) are stored locally on your device. We do not upload, read, or access the content of your documents.
Crash & Performance Data
We use Sentry for crash reporting. This may include device model, OS version, and anonymized stack traces to help us fix bugs. No personal content is included in crash reports.
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your account and manage your subscription
- To track character usage for premium text-to-speech features
- To diagnose and fix app crashes and performance issues
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not track your location
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or camera
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising
- We do not use tracking or analytics frameworks beyond crash reporting
Third-Party Services
ClearRead integrates with the following services:

Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Usage records are retained for billing cycle calculations. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
ClearRead is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
